Jun Hyo-seong Facts
Her name ‘Hyo-seong’ is derived from the word ‘유성’ which means ‘meteor’ in Korean. She was given this name because her father and maternal grandmother saw a shooting star across the sky on the day of her birth.
Owing to the financial struggles faced by her family, they used to earn extra money by delivering newspapers every morning since Jun Hyo-seong was in 3rd grade.
Jun Hyo-seong took an interest in singing and dancing ever since she was a child but it wasn’t until she was in 6th grade that she decided to become a singer. She once stated, “I liked performing for others since I was little. I danced things to songs like Fin.K.L and SES at my friends’ birthday parties. In 6th grade, I decided that I really wanted to become a singer, and all of my friends helped me try to make that dream come true.”
She was the leader of the school’s dance team when she was in middle school and used to work part-time jobs to earn the money to travel to Seoul for auditions.
With Secret, Jun Hyo-seong released the group’s debut Korean studio album Moving in Secret on October 18, 2011, by TS Entertainment.
Secret‘s 2nd studio album (1st Japanese release) titled Welcome to Secret Time was released on August 22, 2012, through Sony Music Entertainment Japan. The album peaked at #11 on the Billboard Japan Top Albums chart.
In 2012, Jun Hyo-seong made a cameo appearance as Soo-yeon in an episode of the comedy-drama television series Salamander Guru and The Shadows.
She brought to life the character of Park Bo-yeon in the crime thriller television series Wanted in 2016 and this performance won her the “Special Acting Award – Actress in a Genre Drama” at the 2016 SBS Drama Awards.
